New Year’s Blessing

May synodal gatherings fill every corner of the world in this New Year

We hope you are already engaged in gathering with others to listen to the Spirit and to each other as you share your insights into communion, participation, and the mission of our Church in today’s world. Pope Francis wants to hear from everyone whether you are actively involved in the Church or even from those who have long since walked away from the Church. If you have no synodal gathering to join in this New Year, we encourage you to begin one of your own. Just invite a small group of friends or people who have opinions about the Church. Simply click here now for guidelines how to do this. If you are unable to join or start a synodal listening session in your own region, consider joining us at CCRI. Beginning in the New Year, we are offering multiple new online gatherings to accommodate the various time zones globally. Please check out the available times that may work for you and register for the one that best fits your schedule.

Pope Francis is serious about wanting to hear our stories and for us to share our lived experiences – for better or for worse – growing up in the Church. If you are unable to attend any of our gatherings and have none other that you can attend in your own region, then you are invited to send your personal story along with your solution of how your situation could have been better handled to the head of the Synod office in Rome: synodus@synod.va and cc Sr. Nathalie Becquart: n.becquart@synod.va. It is in sharing our stories that reform will come about. Feel free to pass this information onto to your contacts both in and out of the Church and invite them to join us and/or share their stories with the Synod office.

Take advantage of end-of-the-year tax deductions and be part of reforming our Church

When you make a donation to support our cause, you join with others who are investing in restoring our Church to what Jesus intended. If you are part of the movement to stop contributing to your local parish and/or diocese, you may want to take advantage of the end-of-year tax deductions by contributing to CCRI in its stead. The dollars we receive are used to run our programs and to reach a broad spectrum of the People of God. We are focused on reaching out to the Faithful, reform activists, young adults as well as those who feel abandoned by the Church, to mention just a few. Your personal contributions in offering your suggestions and your donations are most appreciated.

Wishing you all the best for this New Year!
Rene Reid
CCRI director

Speaking Out with One Unified Global Voice

"...Until we raise a common voice, we will not only not be heard, we will not even be listened to....

My hope is that by speaking out together - a strong chorus of calls for reform - we can provide a common, a clear, a strong and ongoing voice for the yet incomplete vision of Vatican II.

In common cause, let us band together across the world. By our desire to be heard on particular issues - all of them important - let us not lose the strength of our common voice by reducing it to a whisper.

In light of this, we invite individuals and organizations to join together in making known our opinions for the good of our Church. By uniting our voices, it is not about abandoning the unique work of your organization but rather about how your work can enhance global reform."

"We have to join our forces in order to reach a real breakthrough in this window of opportunity." Hans Kung, CCRI Consultor

"When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion." [Ethiopian proverb]

"Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable." [Kenyan proverb]

"(The Christian faithful) have the right and even at times the duty to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church and to make their opinion known to the rest of the Christian faithful." (Canon 212 §3)

CCRI is also interested in helping support various causes in regions of the world by garnering the support of our entire global community for those who need support beyond their parish, organization, or locale. Send us (1) your name and affiliation, or (2) the name of your group with some description of your goals, membership, and numbers.
