May Christ be born again in our hearts…and in this synodal process called by Francis

As we prepare to move into the 2nd phase of the Synod, let us continue to do our part in initiating synodal gatherings throughout the world, listening deeply to one another, and exploring ways together to move our community forward. Even when we have no leadership from our bishops or pastors, Pope Francis is asking us, the People of God, to assume this responsibility. Let us pray to renew our hearts this Christmas season. Whether we are still practicing Catholics or whether we have long since given up on the Church, scandalized by the sexual clergy abuse, or hurt by the treatment we’ve received, help us find our voice, even as we face adversity, to speak up and begin to accept our role as Christians in today’s world.

Be inspired to find your voice this Christmas

Take time during this seasonal break to read the dialogue with Dr. Myriam Wijlens held during our Global Ecclesial Synodal Council session earlier this month. It should become clear that it is time for us to grow up and recognize our own responsibility as baptized Christians. It is time for us to take needed steps to transform our community into one that is truly reflective of who we are and one that is serving those who need us. The Church is changing. It is no longer our role to wait for the bishop or pastor to invite us or guide us. If you feel that the current situation is not serving the community or if it could be improved, silence is complicity. Rather, let us each commit to gathering with a few others in our community and begin to explore how our small group can find ways to move our community forward. As the angel is said to have told Mary, “Don’t be afraid!” This is what synodality is all about. This is what Pope Francis is asking of us.

Join with us and be part of reforming our Church

Your Gift – in Any Amount – Is Priceless

When you make a donation to support our cause, you join with others who are investing in restoring our Church to what Jesus intended. If you are part of the movement to stop contributing to your local parish and/or diocese, you may want to take advantage of the tax-free donation by contributing to CCRI in its stead. The dollars we receive are used to run our programs and to reach a broad spectrum of the People of God. We are focused on reaching out to the Faithful, reform activists, young adults as well as those who feel abandoned by the Church, to mention just a few. Your personal contributions in offering your suggestions and your donations are most appreciated.

Wishing you all the best for this special season of the year,

On behalf of our CCRI Strategy Team,

Rene Reid, director
