HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

8 – 14 Oct online all week

13 – 14 Octlive and online, Rome IT & Bristol UK

As part of the implementation team working with Spirit Unbounded, we are excited to announce the start of ticket sales for our event in October “Human Rights in the Catholic Church”.

The event will take place from 8–14 October 2023 and will feature both live and pre-recorded digital presentations. Presentations from 8–12 October will be streamed online, with live presentations on 13–14 October. Venues in Bristol (UK) and Rome will allow people to attend the event in person.

We have made great progress lining-up speakers on various topics and to date have an extensive international roster with a stellar cast of contributors. Presenters include activists, artists, musicians, and storytellers alongside academics and theologians. Spirit Unbounded offers a platform where the voice of the marginalized, of the ordinary person, of the excluded, of those hurt by the hierarchical church, are not only welcomed but are celebrated. We welcome the voices of indigenous peoples, of women, of people of color, of LGBTQI+ people, of ordinary people seeking a better, inclusive and kinder church based on the loving teachings of Jesus. Presenters will come from Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America. They will address the theme of human rights in the Catholic Church, particularly how the church can move beyond clericalism to better model human rights both within and outside the institution.

We kindly ask you to share this email with your network to encourage others to learn about this fantastic opportunity to participate in a one of a kind event. Perhaps you could mention it in your next newsletter or on Social Media or link to our events page on your website. Here is a link to our latest flyer to promote the event.

Join with NCR Michael Sean Winters in asking Pope Francis to appoint legacy bishops in the United States

Click here to read Winters’s article reminding our pope that, along with so many of his legacy appointments of bishops in other parts of the world, the U.S. deserves some legacy bishop appointments too. We invite you to sign our letter to Pope Francis adding our request to Winters in our letter to the pope.
