Dear friends,
In the interest of openness and transparency in governance processes, CCRI is creating a platform for an open sharing of submissions to the synod office which Pope Francis has initiated. You are invited to send us a copy of your submission, be it from a parish group, a local community, a diocese, or a Small Christian Community that has responded to Pope Francis’s call to engage in the Synodal Process. We will post these on our website www.ThePeopleSpeakOut.org to make them accessible to all. To ensure submissions are authentic, we will only post those that are authored, i.e. include a name of an individual or group and location (city, state, country) of the submitters. We look forward to your response.
We are just beginning to host online Small Christian Communities for young adults who are searching for a safe place to share their concerns and find support for the life issues they face. As an international and diverse group meeting twice a month on Zoom, these groups will be led by Alloys Nyakundi, a young man from Kenya who has received his Masters from Loyola University and trained to lead these gatherings. He is committed to assist each group in growing together seeking to find their rightful place within the Catholic community. Rome — Pope Francis has overhauled the Vatican's central bureaucracy for the first time in over 30 years, dramatically expanding the number of top leadership roles lay men and women can hold and reorganizing Vatican departments under the central priority of evangelization.
The 54-page text of the new Apostolic Constitution was released on March 19 — 9 years to the day of Francis' inauguration as pope in 2013 — and fulfills a top priority of the College of Cardinals, who made clear their desire to improve and decentralize church governance when they gathered in Rome to name a successor to the then-recently retired Pope Benedict XVI.
